Christmas Craziness

Christmas at the Harrell/Edmondson household is a little crazy. We have a ton of places to go with very little time at each location. I am not a fan. But, what do you do?

here is a rundown of our usual schedule:
Christmas Eve:
6 p.m. Service at Josh's mama & daddy's church (T.Hall United Methodist)

6:30 p.m. Dinner and drinks at Josh's Aunt Becky's which includes all of Josh's grandma's sisters and brothers (total of 9) with their kids and grand-kids. We exchange Secret Santa gifts (names drawn at Thanksgiving)
me, obviously telling Aunt Denise what I think about something at Aunt Becky's (Christmas '09)
9 p.m. My parent's house to open two gifts a piece
(mama & daddy's last December)

10 p.m. (ish) Back to our house to open our gifts to one another (since we know we won't have time Christmas day)
our house

Christmas Day:
6 a.m. wake up. seriously.

7 a.m. arrive at breakfast location (alternates each year) to eat breakfast & open gifts
Option 1: My parents' with Deanna, Mema, Papa and us
Option 2: Josh's parents' with the whole Edmondson clan (Uncle Jack & Uncle Steve's families)

11:00 a.m. go to Mema Dean's for brunch and open gifts with my mama's side of the family followed by the annual mandatory family picture

last year's very pregnant Christmas pic.

1:00 p.m. go to Temperance Hall and open gifts with Josh's grandma and granddaddy

3:00 p.m. nap.

5:00 p.m. leave for Snow Hill for the Murphy (mema dean's family) Christmas

This year though? This schedule won't be followed. Not only do we have a 10 month old to add to the mix, but also Christmas is on a Sunday so we have service at 10 a.m. in Macclesfield. Even though it is Josh's parents' turn to have us for breakfast, there is no way we'd have time to go to Rocky Mount and back in time for church. So who knows what we'll do.

However, this is a good problem to have in my opinion. I would much rather have too much family to visit than not enough.

So, in case I don't get a chance to tell you later.. I hope you all have an absolutely wonderful Christmas full of all things merry & bright!

  3. Our Christmas schedule used to be insane like that...until Peyton was born! Last year we put our foot down and made people come to us, it was so much easier and we'll be doing it again this year. We still go a few places, but the "big" get together is now at our house on Christmas day so we can put Peyton to bed when we need to. Merry Christmas!!!

  4. Merry Christmas!! I got tired just reading through half of it. We always spent the whole day with one side of the family and either did the day after or Christmas eve with the other.
