don't "weave" me

Wednesday morning, Josh & I left a screaming Sawyer in the arms of his new preschool teacher. It was heartbreaking.

Homie had been battling a nasty cold since Sunday along with a fever up until Tuesday morning, so we had debated on even letting him go, but when Wednesday came and he was holding strong at 98.6, we made the decision to send him on. He was still cranky and a little sniffly, but finally had some of his 3.5-year-old energy back.

Preschool starts at 9am and runs until 12pm, Monday through Friday, so our amazing babysitter, Mrs. Debbie (or "B" as everyone calls her) will be the one taking him and picking him up every day, but since it was his first day Josh and I decided to take some time off work and drop him off.

Josh went on to the office while I got Sawyer ready in his new little school bus tshirt (from my friend Caroline's shop) and tried to get some pictures of him with his little backpack (from Stitched & Stamped on Etsy).

Which didn't go well at all.

After the failed photoshoot, we headed to Josh's office and got ready to go together to Pre-K.

Sawyer immediately started saying, "Y'all aren't going to leave me are you?" when we pulled up to the church and we kept telling him we'd stay for a little while. He found his little cubby for his backpack, walked into the room and sat down to play with the "quiet time" toy that was at his table and we thought this is going to be easy!

We were wrong.

When the time came for us to walk out the door, he went into a full-on panic attack. He cried, grabbed hold of Josh and didn't want us to go. When we finally pried ourselves away and started down the hallway, here comes Sawyer running after us saying, "Don't 'weave' me!!!!".

We had to hand over our tearful munchkin to his teacher Mrs. Bethany, and not look back.

Mrs. Bethany said he calmed down about 10 minutes later and had a good rest of the morning, and Josh took his lunch hour to pick Sawyer up and take him out to a special daddy-Sawyer lunch before taking him to the babysitter's house for the rest of the day.

Here's hoping he does better this morning for Mrs. Debbie!

To Reunion or Not to Reunion

My high school reunion is next year, in fact the date has already been set for August 1, 2015. Part of me has always thought that I would love my reunion, seeing all my HS friends, dancing and enjoying the opportunity to dress up... But now I don't know.

First of all, that part of me that thought I would enjoy it wasn't planning on popping out a baby 10 months prior to that reunion. Second of all, most of my friends in high high school weren't actually in my class.

So now I have to decide, do I want to reunion-ize with those people who graduated with me? Will I be confident enough in my post-second-baby body to be in front of them, knowing the last time some of them saw me I weighed just shy of 120 lbs?

And also, do I want to I see them? In this day and age with social media I feel like I have pretty much stayed in some kind of touch with the people I wanted to stay in touch with. We might not talk or hang out, but I can I tell you the names of their kids, where they work, who they married, etc.

There are a few exceptions and some people I'd really like to see. While the majority of my classmates actually stayed in Edgecombe County, there are a few that moved away who I haven't seen in years that I'd actually like to reconnect with. But most of them are right around the corner. There are a few that are just around the corner that I'd also rather not see.

There's also the fact that it might would just be fun. It's been awhile since we've had somewhere to go where we could dance without feeling old and where I felt the need to dress up. Not to mention it would be great motivation to lose that baby weight.

While I was out with my gallbladder I watched a few movies about high school reunions such as 10 Years and American Reunion and I thought yeah, maybe I will go but then realized that the reason those people had such a good time is because they were all in the same class, including their spouses.

So, I'm torn.

Did you, or will you, go to your class reunion?

the first one.

My pregnant self spent 10 hours in crazy high temperatures on Saturday and I couldn't be happier about it. We tailgated, cheered and celebrated for our first home game against NC Central this weekend, and despite 92 degree temps and 300% humidity (okay, that one might be an exaggeration), we had an absolute blast.

me & Dee
Our tailgate lot opened at 2pm for the 8pm game, so naturally we got there at 12:30 to line up to get in. The girls hung out in the shade while we waited for the staff to let us in and then claimed "our spot" when it got closer to tailgate time. It's funny, our lot (Elmhurst Lot) is the last tailgate lot that doesn't have numbered spots, while you pay to be able to park in the lot, the spots are actually first come first serve. We have the spot that we always park in so we have to go "claim" it fairly early on to avoid any newbies trying to take it.

I supervised several games of Flip Cup and cornhole from my chair and ate all I wanted (because carbs don't count on gameday... just don't tell my OB). I made a kind of hybrid version of the Lucky Rainbow Chex Mix & Confetti Cake Muddy Buddy mix by using the vanilla coating version (including the butter & almond extract and heavy cream) of the confetti cake recipe with the cereal/marshmallow guts of the Lucky Rainbow recipe. Then I also roasted some potatoes & made my favorite fruit salsa with homemade cinnamon tortilla chips. Of course, I also brought a giant bag of grapes because I've been craving those like crazy.

The biggest surprise of the day was the weird looks I got from a TON of people. At first, I thought I was just being paranoid and self-conscious about looking so pregnant (and about my belly button poking out a good inch), but then my friend started noticing too. What, is a pregnant girl supposed to just sit at home and not enjoy tailgating or a football game?

me and our "famous" cousin Kasey (who recently sang with Keith Urban!!)

I was so happy to be back in our stadium, cheering on our team. We had a great game with an AMAZING play that involved our quarterback Sean Carden passing the ball to a running back Breon Allen who then passed it to (my favorite) receiver who threw a 41 yard pass to another receiver, Isaiah Jones for a touchdown. It was unbelievable.

With the score at 38 to 7 at the end of the 3rd quarter, we decided to call it a night (it was 10:30pm and we'd been in the sunshine since 12:30pm, woof). The Pirates won 52 to 7 against Central and our next game is away in Columbia, SC against the University of South Carolina Gamecocks. Josh is making the trip to watch the game and I am super jealous!
