I can't wait anymore

As I mentioned in this post, we are moving just about 20 minutes from our current house to live in town where Josh is now working as part of his job requirement. I was going to wait and talk about the house when EVERYTHING was done (appraisal, inspection, closing..) but I am way too impatient to wait. 

So, here we go...

as I said, that door will be dark purple. 

I think my favorite part is that this house, like our old house, has old bones with upgraded qualities. Here's a shot of the house before a local contractor purchased and re-modeled it that I found on Google street view.

It has all the requirements I was looking for and I am so, so ready to move in and start our new life there. Here's a little tour of our new place!

When you first walk in the front door, there's a living room on the front..

which opens into my favorite part of the house.. the kitchen!

The contractor also added a great garage and laundry room on the back, which includes a nice pantry too!

Then through the other door in the kitchen there's a second living room, which like I said yesterday, we'll be using as a rec room of sorts where Sawyer can play and I'll keep my desk. 

Through that door on the right (or just through a little short hall in front of the front door) is the long hallway holding the two bedrooms on each side the guest bath with the master bedroom "suite" at the end.

Josh's favorite part....

We close the day before Halloween, the exact same day as we close on our house we sold! So it is going to be a busy, busy fall folks!

Oh, How Pinteresting: Play Room

I am linking up with Michelle @ The Vintage Apple for "Oh, How Pinteresting"...

First of all I mean a legit children's play room, not like Christian Grey's play room (or red room of pain), so get your minds of out of the gutters ladies ;)

In the new house, Sawyer will have a play room, basically because we will have two living rooms - I think one is supposed to a "formal living room", but let's be honest... me and Josh aren't formal. So I have been trying to find ways to make this room...

... into a kid-friendly play room.

First step: Make the fireplace not so dangerous by making a colorful cushion for the length of it. Thank God for Clever Faeries and their fireplace cushion tutorial.

Weekend Happenings (photo dump)

We had a semi-busy weekend...

Friday we ate dinner at Josh's parents where we celebrated both my birthday & Josh's granddaddy's birthday and opened some presents. 

I was super pumped because I got the ECU Tom's I wanted!

and also the Storm Trooper t-shirt I wanted #scifinerd

Saturday we had our first night game of the season against UTEP and it was a miserable day weather-wise. Misty, wet and windy usually aren't the best conditions for tailgating and football, but we made it work. Forgive the pics, took them with the CrackBerry.

They halted the game right before half-time and made everyone evacuate the stadium for awhile. And of course, everyone's husbands were accounted for... except mine. He got separated from the group and none of our calls would go through, finally he texted Chris to let us know he'd found shelter under the stadium and was hanging there. When they finally let everyone back in, it was still raining and I was already sniffly and stopped up. So I voted to catch a ride home while Josh rode out the rain and watched the rest of the game, which we won 28-18. 

When I got home and started washing the dishes from the game, I discovered that my poor little fondue pot (which was holding sausage dip) was scorched terribly on the bottom. Note to self: No more thinking it can go on the grill to warm the dip up.

Sunday we had homecoming at Josh's parent's church where Sawyer thoroughly enjoyed (as did the rest of us) some awesome food and fellowship after the sermon.

 Then, after church we took all families to see the new house. Here is another sneak peek of the front of it!

First of all, no Josh and I did not plan to wear the same shirt and didn't even realize we were matching until we got in the car to go. Second of all, can we pretend that my husband does not have on Sperry's with his gym shorts? He forgot shoes. 

Also, that door will be dark purple by the time we move in instead of red.
