In with the OLD out with the new?

You may remember that I moved from my old office.....

....into a new office

I moved from said old office into a new smaller office since my boss was leaving and another person was going to take my old area and so I could have a freakin' door so I could pump for the Sawbug in privacy.

.... Well I have been moved back into my first office now. It has thankfully undergone some updates. There is no more network printer where people visit CONSTANTLY and it now has a door!

So here is my new, old office!

Yes, I may have spray-painted a lamp purple...

I did lose my window when I moved back, but I still had my lovely curtains so I used them to hide the doorway that used to lead to my old boss' office but has now been closed off on the other side. Hiding behind the curtain are my easels and pop-up screens.

With my new office also came another title change, I am now "Communications and Community Relations Program Coordinator." Say that three times fast.

DIY Friday: Leaf-E AND an announcement

DIY Friday is back!! Also, in two weeks I am going to make this a link up. Yep, you heard read right. In two weeks it will be a link up. So, get ready and start doing it yourself! So excited.

I saw this awesome leaf initial on Pinterest (of course) and decided I could totally accomplish it myself.

What You'll Need:

Pool Noodle/Big Wooden Letter

Gorilla Glue

Hot glue

Craft leaves

Burlap or ribbon

What You Do:

1.) Instead of buying a semi-expensive big wooden "E", I chose to make one from pool noodles. Yep, I gots mad talent when it comes to shaping those suckers. If you want to just buy a letter, do that instead and skip this step.

After cutting the pieces I glued them together with Gorilla Glue and applied some rubber band magic to hold them together long for the glue to dry.

2.) Once noodle is dry, apply craft leaves with hot glue. I tried to do this with Gorilla Glue, but I kept getting leaves stuck to me since they were so thin and the glue was seeping through. I purchased these leaves for only a $1 at Rite Aid and 65 leaves came in a bag - I bought two.

3.) After you cover your letter, put a ribbon or some cut burlap around the top to hang it up on your door (or wherever you choose). I luckily had burlap left from my fall candle project

4.) Hang it up, so everyone can be jealous of your awesome crafting skills.

TMNT, Sawyer Style.

This past weekend, Sawyer and I visited a local Trunk or Treat and carnival at a local church and had a blast. Sawbug was Donatello, my favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (prbly because he has a purple sash).

In case you couldn't tell, I had to make Sir Sawbug's costume since TMNT costumes don't come in infant sizes. 

And of course solid green rompers were NOWHERE in sight, so I had to buy a white one and dye it green then cover up the wording.

I made the turtle shell out of a straw hat that I cut the brim off of and spray-painted brown before velcro-ing it to the back of the costume so that I could take it on and off to get Sir Sawbug in his car seat.

I also used the velcro to attach the belly piece so I could still get Sawyer in and out of his costume with the snaps.

I purchased his cute little TMNT beanie from Amlowi, a shop on Etsy for only $9.99

And the final result was the cutest Donatello ever.

He was a mighty precious ninja turtle, if I do say so myself.

I have been working late a lot and poor Josh has been fending for himself with takeout and other quick fixes so he can eat AND take care of the Sawbug. So, I have been pinning some quick and easy recipes along with lots of crockpot and freezer meal ideas too.

My smart self rolled over my pinky toe with a shopping cart (maybe Jesus made me do it because I was spending too much money at the store...) and had to say goodbye to my pink toe nail. Right now, my heels are all KILLING my feet so I think that is Jesus' way of saying "go forth my child and purchase some killer flats, and tell Josh i said it was okay." I can't argue with the big guy...

Sorry ya'll, please pardon the mess as I do a little rearranging on my bloggity blog.

Apologies & Comforters

First off, can I please just apologize for being such a crap blogger/comment-giver/comment responder? Sorry guys.

Second, I completely forgot to tell ya'll about our new comforter/bed..... that we got like 8 months ago.
You'll remember (maybe) awhile back how my chocolate beast took vengeance against my lovely Ralph Lauren Jamaica Paisley duvet cover - no idea what it did to her, but obviously Sookie wasn't pleased with its behavior.

I set out to find a new comforter I liked even better. Well, during that time Josh & I decided we needed a whole new bed, in fact a whole new bigger bed - a KING bed.

We got the bed, and we I finally decided on this Michael Kors "Essaouira" comforter.

Welllll, new bed doesn't have a headboard, because we just bought a King frame and mattress, so now I need something over the bed (I'm not digging the picture frames anymore).

So, we have this great bed and comforter for around 8 months or so now and I still don't have anything over the bed but those sad pictures frames (give me a break, I've had a lot going on). I saw this awesome Pin on Miss Sarah Lucas' Pinterest board and fell in love. I could SO do that.

This weekend, I am off to find a cheap-ish mantle to use as a shelf and some picture frames and such to put on it. I am hoping somewhere in there I also find some black spray paint to spray my nightstand and maybe even black paint to paint over our dressers.

I have already started making my Christmas list this year and it is SO much easier on Pinterest. Instead of sending my mom/aunt/mother-in-law links to a bunch of separate sites, I can send them all to my Chirstmas List board.

Now I am not making a list already because I am greedy or love presents (well, not only because I love presents) I am already making a list because last year I ended up asking for a bunch of things I didn't really want just to complete my list. So this year, my list is well thought out and such.
