Nursery, Chapter 2: Faux Board and Batten = Success

This past weekend, Josh and his little brother Jordan got to work on the faux Board and Batten, with help from instructions provided by the wonderful Thrifty Decor Chick.

As you saw in my Monday post, our walls started out plain white before Josh painted them with Valspar's "Homespun Linen" and a high-gloss white on the bottom.
Saturday, he and Jordan cut and installed some chair-rail-esque wood to put between the taupe and white paint, separating the two colors.

Which took a lot of strength from both of them considering Josh is a perfectionist with his level and Jordan is a little more handy and can usually just eyeball stuff.
Notice how Josh turns away in the pic below as Jordan hammers haha
Here the room is with chair-rail in place.
Then Jordan went hunting and left Josh to do the hard part - putting up the vertical lattice boards, specifically measured to be 14 inches a part. This would have been a LOT easier if our walls didn't have a few sag spots, thanks to their age.
And here's the finished product! I love it and it makes me so proud to consider how much $$ we saved and that my hubby and brother-in-law did it all by themselves.
Josh also installed a closet organizer in the nursery, so now it's time to fill it up!!
